Navigating Travel and Taxes: Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Abroad 🗺️💖

My love for this niche kicked off while I was living in Medellín, Colombia a 3rd time in 2023. Even as a tax strategist, I found myself questioning what I could deduct as a business expense while abroad when I first started back in 2021. 🤔 So, I dove into the world of international taxation and got super excited learning about things like the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion (FEIE), the Foreign Tax Credit (FTC), and housing deductions. 💡 It hit me: if I had questions, then other women entrepreneurs who aren’t tax pros must be feeling completely lost!

From that point on, I quietly shifted my focus to help those women. While I enjoyed my time in Medellín, I didn’t usually share what I did—especially during fun nights out. But one evening at a rooftop event, someone asked about my work, and oh boy, did the questions start pouring in! A few attendees had been traveling for years and hadn’t filed a tax return since leaving the U.S. They were confused and unsure about what to do next. That night confirmed for me that I was on the right path, especially since I understood their journeys as a traveler myself.

I realized there were many more women entrepreneurs out there who needed my services and expertise. I met incredible women running their own businesses, yet they felt totally overwhelmed by the complicated world of taxes and finances abroad. In those conversations, I thought, “I can help make this easier!” That sparked another moment of confirmation for me! ✨ I knew I could share simple, straightforward advice to help simplify their lives when it came to their taxes.
